Whites

We have on special offer, two white Burgundies from the Caves de Prissé, renowned for making superb quality Mâcon and the iconic Sancerre from Jean Claude Chatelain.

Caves De Prissé Macon Prissé 'Les Clochettes' 2005 Normal Price £8.99 Special offer for min 6 bottles £7.29

From the Cave de Prissé who are the foremost producers of St Véran.  Crisp fresh and fruity the wines are vinified in stainless steel vats to retain the maximum amount of aroma - and the intensity is apparent in the glass.  The Macon Prissé is a very accessible wine, with delicate restrained fruit and an intense aroma leading to a balanced very chic style palate. Yummy!

Caves de Prissé, Saint Véran 'Les Pierres Blanches' 2005 Normal Price £10.49 Special offer for min 6 bottles £8.29

The Saint Véran from the Cave de Prissé is a deliciously serious wine. Sturdy complexity and balanced concentration, much fuller in style than the Macon Prissé yet with good balanced acidity and a minerally butter finish.

Domaine J C Chatelain Sancerre 2006 Normal price £13.49 – special offer Price £12.99 Special offer for min 6 bottles £9.99

Very forward fruit from a very well made classic wine with steely crisp lime and greengage fruit - Jean Claude has some land in Sancerre from which he produces this very stylish wine. This wine is the most erudite of Jean Claude’s wines, distinct yet always different, stylish and beyond what tastes you think Sancerre may have – delightful

Black River Merlot/Pinot Noir 2004 Patagonia Argentina Normal price £6.99 special offer price for min 6 bottles £4.99

A field blend of Pinot Noir and Merlot that was originally planted over 70 years ago - big ripe fruit with soft velvety palate showing lovely nuances of plum and cherry.  Soft, supple and very alluring.

Alpha Zeta Corvina 2006 Veneto Italy Normal price £6.99 special offer price for min 6 bottles £4.99

The Corvina from Alpha Zeta is deep, rich, spicy and supple and quite a revelation.  The grape variety of Corvina is the main constituent in top quality Valpolicella, blended usually with Rondinella and Molinara to add a garnish.  In this instance pure Corvina has been used because of the quality of the Corvina in this vintage.  Made by Matt Thomson who makes St Clair Sauvignon Blanc in New Zealand it has an expansive almost New World feel.  At a recent tasting Franco Allegrini was highly impressed with this wine - quite an accolade coming from the finest Winemaker in Valpolicella.

Michel Torino Coleccion Tannat 2004 Normal price £9.99 special offer price for min 6 bottles £6.99

This is by far my personal favourite of the Michel Torino Range - a great grape variety that is often so underrated. It is the grape variety that makes Madiran in the South West of France where traditionally the wine is tannic gutsy and quite unapproachable.  This is not the case for the delightfully Argentinean styled Tannat from Michel Torino.  It has a short period of oak ageing that rounds the fruit and delivers a wine that is soft, with impeccable character.
