Its dynamic, driven winemaker Philippe Salasc gave the tutored tasting of Grés St Paul wines. Spirited, lively discussions ensued with Philippe’s Gallic charm enthralling the seated audience. The wines breathed ‘terroir’ into the room as the brooding long-lived aromas opened up before the imbibers........click here to read full report

What lovely weather for a tasting, if a little warm for some of the reds which we immediately put on ice!
The whites were tasting really well due to the weather though and most people dove straight for a glass of something cold upon arrival - the wine of choice seemed to be the new Haut - Blanville Cuvée Blanche, a blend of Grenache Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc with a very small amount of Viognier. The other interesting choice for first sip of something cold was the Domaine Houchart Rose, an enticing mix of Grenache and Syrah.
The tasting was held at the delightful Aylestone Court Hotel in Hereford where the imbibers spilled on to the lawn throughout the evening.
We have been asked several times since the event for the wines that were on at the tasting so we thought we would post them on the web site for all to see. Please feel free to call if you would like to know more about a particular wine.
My particular favourites of the evening were - for the whites Domaine Houchart Blanc (Table 2), which had an ethereal almond taste that captured everything from the soils of the Côtes de Provence wonderfully. The Petite
Rosée (Table 1) from Haut Blanville with its lovely savoury vegetal edge and the Roda 1 from Spain for the reds on table 8 - velvety strength and poised power.
